About the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W111

The Mercedes-Benz W111 belongs to the Fintail family, known in German as Heckflosse because of its rear fin design. Unlike the W110, which served the mid-range sedan segment, the W111 occupied a higher position within the Mercedes-Benz lineup and was offered as a sedan, coupé and cabriolet.

Introduced at the end of the 1950s, the W111 played an important role in the development of postwar Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. Its design combined a more modern appearance with improvements in comfort, structural safety and build quality, making it closely connected with the later evolution of the S-Class.
